"I turned to research because I was determined to dig deep into the root causes of inflammation and understand the molecular basis of disease."
During my basic training, I was touched by the pain of many patients — especially those with cancer. I turned to research, determined to dig deep into the root causes of inflammation and understand the molecular basis of diseases.
I realised that the future of medicine should be a more patient-centered approach: not only treating symptoms, but also looking at primary root causes. In 2012, I completed a fellowship in anti-aging, metabolic and nutritional medicine — a wellness approach pertinent to the prevention of disease, covering functional and metabolic medicine.
Metabolic and nutritional medicine is a preventive and personalised approach dealing with interactions among genetic, environmental, food, diet, toxin and lifestyle factors that influence long-term health and the prevention of inflammation and age-related disease.
Twenty years of training.
